The heart of wisdom is in all things

The heart of wisdom is in all things. If we want to learn, if we want to be better, if we want knowledge then we must allow the things we want to approach us freely and without force of thought or pressure of desire, for wisdom begins, as the oak begins, in moments of pure freedom and innocence.

We cannot use force to unlock potential. Wisdom is here inside us now, and out there, and so to reach the heart of this knowledge, and to grow, we must begin to understand that first and foremost we are such little things, such inconsequential things.

We must settle ourselves and turn to nature, for there her heart breathes for us, and there, when we have understood, we shall begin to see, to feel this joy building inside us, and to know that the heart of wisdom is in all things.

their pleasured pain

how this time
this, impossible feeling of
distance

I feel such a longing for
longevity
yet at the same time
I feel its breath
begin to cremate
and I feel, also
her kisses
kissing me to feel
the distance
for it is such a distance
where the language of sorrow
echoes along the path
from the fires
those joyful fires,
breathing

breathing
their pleasured pain

Rose

a rose is nothing but a reflection of you
as it sheds its petals
to reveal your perfect heart

how the rain sings on my windows
reminds me of the joy
in my soul as you smile

you are the nature of this time
bringing a spiritual essence
to warm the solitude of mine

always time to breathe

of continuance

of course there is always time
always time to breathe
even if that breathing is tight
tingly and cold

and that’s when it hits me

I’m watching the rain
listening to the patterings
seeing the grey morning clouds stir
hearing the moans of a thousand souls in the wind
feeling the silence of her tears

of her tears
longing to evaporate into joy
but on this cold cold day
she can do nothing but cry

and I can do nothing
but think of continuance
and climbing that hill
hoping I can still breathe when I reach the top

of course there is always time
to breathe
and if not her tears will fall
to evporate into joy
and I shall join the wind chorus

although you won’t like my song.

Smile (in the memory of you)

Baby blue sky
in the evening you cry
as the change of coming night
sets your world alight

as the clouds dip and paint
splatter patterns of rustic quaint

as over here and over there
a child’s play of chaotic care

as greyer upon greyer
dusk bustles to add a layer

as in the evening you cry
little baby blue sky

Do not forget the ashes of flame

Poem #52
Written for Jo Bell’s 52: Write a poem a week and the theme is … A leave-taking

Do not forget the ashes of flame of once a wandering summer’s rain
Do not forget the simple times when magic of life sings in rhyme
Do not forget the morning wake when chill is burnt in splendour great
Do not forget the Faerie Queen who danced before you but never seen
Do not forget the troublesome things for without which there’ll be no kings
Do not forget the feather of night of once a wandering moon’s delight
Do not forget the fragile nature when walking through her rising pasture
Do not forget the noble house which beats within your heart to rouse
Do not forget the lighted candle burning its dance of spiritual spangle
Do not forget the rite of time of once a wandering mortal’s climb
Do not forget the children’s story to be read and learned in all its glory
Do not forget the starry tryst when passions burn ‘neath lovers lips
Do not forget the dust of death of once a wandering secret’s breath
Do not forget the tranquil smile as you wave goodbye to this yearly mile
Do not forget the beauty of it all of once a wandering midnight’s door
